BBG Chapter 5 "Exploring Topics & Creating a Research Proposal"
BBG CHAPTER 5
Freewrite: Free writing is a technique that writers can use to think of ideas. The main goal of free writing is to write as much as you can without worrying about what it sounds like. Don’t worry if it doesn’t make sense or isn’t grammatically correct because you should be the only one to ever read it.
Mind map: Mind mapping can help a writer to think of new ideas in an organized format. When mind mapping you write your central idea in the center of the paper and write related ideas all around the main idea, connecting them with lines. There are mind-mapping softwares that can be used such as MatchWare OpenMind and Bubbl.us.
Brainstorm: Writers often use brainstorming to get ideas about a topic. There are many different ways that writers can brainstorm. For example, researching your topic on Google, Wikipedia, Salon, Slate, The New York Times, or CNN.
Paraphrase: Using sources to generate ideas about a topic. Some other ways of brainstorming include talking to people, making a list, free writing and mind mapping.
